All you need to know about types of asthma
One of the most common types of asthma that directly impacts the bronchi present in the lungs is known as bronchial asthma. There are also other forms of asthma that occur in childhood or with the onset of adulthood. In the case of adult-onset asthma, the symptoms do not usually appear until the individual crosses the age of twenty at the least. Some of the other common and prevalent types of asthma include: Asthma due to allergies This type of asthma is also known as extrinsic asthma as it is usually caused as a result of allergen triggers. Some of the most common allergens include – pet dander from house pets such as cats and dogs, certain types of food, mold and spores, dust, and pollen. This type of asthma is usually seasonal in nature because the allergens are very much similar to the seasonal allergies’ triggers. Non-allergic forms of asthma This type of asthma is also known as intrinsic asthma as it is usually triggered as a result of irritants in the air but unrelated to the allergens or any other allergic triggers. Some of the most common irritants known to cause asthma include cigarette smoke, burning wood, cold air, an illness caused by the virus, air fresheners, air pollution, perfumes, and household cleaning products.
