Different types of foundations to choose from
The various makeup products available in the market enhance the natural beauty of a woman. You can break your routine according to the various makeup products. There is one product, which as its name suggests, lays the ‘foundation’ for other cosmetics.
A foundation is one product, which might have a different effect and appearance depending on the type of skin it is applied to, and the kind of use it is put to.
So, broadly foundation can be divided into the following:
- Liquid
- Cream
- Stick or Cake
- Powder
Liquid
This type of foundation comes in a liquid form. It is lightweight and does not pose much difficulty when being applied to the face. Depending on whether you have oily skin or a wrinkled one, you can choose from a water-based or an oil-based liquid foundation. Moreover, if you have regular skin you may opt for a combination of both. As for shades and tones, you can choose from among several shades available in the market.
Cream
These foundations are thicker in consistency than their liquid counterparts and can be easily blended using a sponge or a brush. A cream foundation has a heavier coverage as it goes deeper into the skin, which is why this type of foundation is preferred for dry to normal skin types. You may find them a great makeup kit companion if you frequently do makeup while traveling. If you have oily skin, the cream version might not be apt for you.
Stick or cake
It is always advisable to apply a bit of moisturizer for putting on a cake foundation since it may look like you have piled on a lot of foundation. Having said that, if you have oily skin, a cake foundation can be extremely beneficial.
If you find it hard to carry those round foundation containers, you may switch to the stick versions, which are very popular for their portability and have a wider availability of shades, and provide the same effect as the cake versions.
Powder
Again, known for a great deal of portability and an easy application, powder foundations come in compact cases and are great for frequent on-the-go touch-ups. These are great for oily skins, which have minimal wrinkles on them. If you wish to get a more natural look, then a powder foundation is what you need. For instance, you can use a powder foundation for attaining a soft glow or use it over a regular moisturizer if there is too much gloss on your face.
Foundation is one makeup element that will act as a base for every other cosmetic that you are going to put on during your makeup routine. So, be aware of your face skin type before you select one. Depending on your budget and preferences, you may play with a different variety of foundations but in the end, your goal is to make your foundation disappear in your skin as if you are not wearing makeup.
