Home remedies for hydrating dry skin
While daily habits or factors that cause the skin to dry may be plenty, it isn’t necessary to visit a dermatologist to treat pale and dry skin. You can just pick some essential ingredients from the kitchen for a natural skin hydration remedy. Not only are these home remedies light on your pockets, but they also use pure and chemical-free natural products free of any side effects.
Although certain skin care products available in the market are not made with chemical combinations from a laboratory and claim to contain natural products, over-the-counter skin care products do contain preservatives, alcohol, fragrances, and other similar components that can cause irritation, allergies, or dry skin. Instead, natural oils and remedies are great for skin hydration. Here are some do-it-yourself skin hydration remedies for you:
- Olive oil cleanser : Olive oil is a great natural cleanser and moisturizer. Skin hydration is easy by just rubbing the oil onto the skin, draping it with a warm, damp cloth, leaving it until it cools, and then wiping away the excess oil. Similarly, this oil works as a good cleanser as it will not rid the skin of its natural oils while cleaning it.
- Avocado mask : Mix pureed avocado with a teaspoon of olive oil and honey to make a rich and creamy face mask. Apply and leave it on the face for 15-20 minutes to help heal dry skin.
- Olive oil and sugar scrub : A combination of 2 tbsp olive oil and ½ a cup of sugar can be used to create an exfoliating face scrub that can help to moisturize the skin. The mixture can be enhanced by adding lavender oil for natural fragrance. It can also promote relaxation of the skin.
- Oatmeal soak : Soaking one cup of oatmeal in a bucket of warm water used for bathing can aid natural skin hydration for dry skin, along with soothing and calming the skin.
- Oatmeal and honey mask exfoliator : A mixture of 2 tbsp of oats and one tbsp of honey with a dash of water is a great exfoliator when allowed to sit on the skin for just 15-20 minutes.
- Apply coconut oil : This is one of the easiest and best moisturizers that can be used to treat dry skin on just about any part of your body from heels to the head. Using it at bedtime is a great skin hydration habit to getting good skin.
- Milk compresses for tired skin : Milk has great anti-inflammatory properties that make an effective natural remedy to treat irritated and itchy skin. Also, the lactic acid present in milk is a mild exfoliant to heal cracked skin.
- Aloe vera for irritated skin : Aloe vera is often believed to be a remedy for relieving sunburn, and it also helps to alleviate redness and dryness-related irritation in the skin, especially during winters. It is also a good anti-aging, anti-acne breakouts remedy.
